the best.

Is difficult to me choose an artist, because I think there is not a best artist but I can tell who are my favorites… At first time I can think in people who their work is significant to me, like Violeta Parra, Jean Luc Godard, Pier Paolo Pasolini, Henri Cartier Bresson, Robert Bresson, Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis and many more… but if I have to chose one, I say my favorite writer, Ernesto Sábato.

Ernesto Sábado was born in Argentina. He was a writer, essayist, physical and painter. His life history is very peculiar. Big part of his life was dedicated to research about atomic radiation in Paris. He was very successful on his area and reached one of the major goals that could suck a physical. However, that didn’t make him happy. During this period, he had contact with the surrealistic movement, causing it to questioning his life and influencing their future works. Due to an existential crisis decided to retire permanently from the scientific area to devote himself entirely to art, specially literature and painting. He decided to reside on a ranch with no water or electricity for dedicate his time to writing.

Sábato wrote three novels: “El Túnel”,”Abaddón el Exterminador” and “Sobre héroes y Tumbas”, countless essays on the human condition. His first essay was published in 1945 and is call “Uno y el universo”. As time progressed into libertarian and humanistic positions.

Is very difficult to me explain why Ernesto Sabato is my favorite artist/person/human. I like his lucidity and his way to see the word. He always spoke about the human condition in relation with the social reality, he was aware that some things are bad, but proposes a new way of dealing… a new way of standing in the world. I like this because I feel very identify with his ideas. As I read his work he became in my favorite writer.

I think this country is characterized for sold itself to other countries and, even worse, to some people of this own country to get monetary benefits. Years ago, Chile has been selling their wealth indiscriminately… the water, the copper; only for give you some examples. Therefore, the new law about the seeds didn’t surprise me, in fact, neither surprised me that people who is directly related with the government obtain benefit with this law and business. This doesn’t mean that I don’t feel sad for all this things. Sincerely, I think this issue is disgusting... Sometimes I can not believe how shameless are some people who think only in their own benefit regardless if they go over the liberty and rights for the rest of the society.

However, there is other kind of news that show us that not everything is lost, and one of those is the master class that took place in Plaza de Armas which had the name “El Estado nos tiene en la calle” (“The state has us in the street”), that make an allusion to the current situation in Chile related with the education (or the less of this). This event struck my attention for many reasons, besides the theme about education, I think that was important to take own public spaces to discusses about our problems and make conscience in other people. In this conversation we talk about our reality and the problems that affect us, we talk about the need of a constituent assembly for create a new constitution, a new state but thought from us.

Stella extragaláctica.

“No, the poetry is not a biological equation. The poetry, if you could define it –because is indefinable- is a sentimental burst, is a memory of another sentimental burst, nothing else”.
That’s the way Stella Díaz Varín refer to poetry, who is known like the boxer poet, the first punk woman and the most radical in Chile.
She was born in La Serena in 1926. Since she was a girl, under the influence of her dad, an anarchist who inculcated his politic ideologies to her, she starts to publish a lot of articles and poems in local diaries. However, her dream was studying medicine to specialize in psychiatry, absolutely sure about the idea of scrutinize in the human brain to know the dreams of the man.  But she didn’t finish her studies and started to write in a few newspapers like El Siglo, La opinion, El extra, La hora, etc. Unfortunately, she had to renounce her job because the government of Gonzàles Videla pursuing her like to many militants of communism.  A deep hate for the government joined to Enrique Lafourcade and Enrique Lihn, and together tattoo a skull intheir arms, a blood compact that consisted in kill the dictator.
She’s one of my favorite poets; she had a deep and singular voice, her poetry is disconsolate, but strong, hopeless, but determinate to fight. She had a creative personality; she expressed her dissatisfaction with a feminine perspective with ad underground language, with items like the death, loneliness, and feminine condition show an inseparable relation between her life and her creation.

run to the hills.

Hello everybody. Today I want to talk about a picture that I like. To think of my favorite photo is very difficult to me, because I love photography so I have a lot of photos that remind me special moments.
I decide to choose this photo because reminds me a very happy moment. It was taken in December of 2009, the last day of the year by the ex girlfriend of one of my friends. We were walking to Paseo Yugoslavo, this place is in Valparaiso and is very famous and crowded on the celebration of New Year.  We were very tired because no one remembered how get there, so we walked and to go up a thousand hills. Arrive there was difficult, a real crossing, but it’s worth it. I like t because these days was very special to me, I enjoyed a lot because was an opportunity to share with my friends.

In general, Valparaiso is one of my favorite places. As well as being beautiful, is special to me because I had have many special moments there. For example, my boyfriend lives there, in Cerro Barón, and I always go to visit him. We go to many places, like bars and coffes, but some days we just go for a walk. Valparaiso for me is a mix of things, like music, sounds, colors, smells… a lot of feelings and emotions that makes me happy… that makes me feel alive.

If is necessary... kill the president.

Hello everybody, today I want to talk about the current situation of Chile, especially in the area of education. This new movement compared with the old one, that happened about five years ago, known as “Revolución Pingüina”, bring us new problems to be solved.

In this country exists a great inequality in relation to social classes which is reflected in many aspects of daily life. The example that is most closely to us and most affects us is the quality of education given by the state. Everyone could be affected by this, because nobody is insured economically, and sadly, in Chile, the access to education is proportional to the socioeconomic status: the capacity to face the high tariffs that change according the national economic growth and not for the incomes of common people. So… what are we talking about?

I defend totally this cause, because I considerer that is fair fight for ours rights. The education is a basic right and the most important tool for humans.

I didn’t go to the demonstration last Thursday because I think with one march we don’t change anything, specially with the oppression that we are living, not even let us manifest our discontent. I believe in more radical ways to face this problem.

The government should start to listening the people’s voice and what they needs and should give what belongs to us. And stop thinking like a big company and not make decisions in benefit of their pockets.

tumblr.

Hi, today I would like to tell you about my favorite web site “tumblr”. I’m not a big fan of internet, so I don’t know too many web sites to visit. Eventhought, about three months ago I discovered a web site that attracks my attention a lot. I don’t remeber exactly how I met it, but I think was because a friend sent me a photograph from there and I found the page quite interesting so a decided to made an account.
I visit “tumblr” when I’m bored or when I have some free time. I like this web site because anyone can upload a photo, taken by themselves or other person, and share it with  the poeple: friends or anyone who decides visit that page. Also, you can upload stories, gifs, quotes, links, dialogues, audio, video, slideshows... anything you want! And the best think is that “tumblr” doesn’t force you, I mean, you can upload anything, and there is no rules or censorship. Also you can keep things to yourself, that page give you the posibility to create private post or entire private blogs, to share with some people only, and you can invite many people to see your account. I like very much store photos and videos that likes me, because in that way I can see them only in one site.
So.. I invite you to visit my page http://quemandoelsol.tumblr.com/

Camera.

Personally, I’m not a big fan of technology. In fact, I’m very clumsy about it; I always have difficulty with modern and sophisticated objects. Also, I prefer simple and tradicional thinks, like books and vinyls.
However, I love photography and I like to experience all types of things associate to photography, even moderns invents, such a filters and digitals cameras.
A few years ago, my mother gave me a digital camera. I remember that I was very happy and surprised. In that moment I thought “!This is the best present in a whole world!” From then on I started to take a photograph of anything that attracts my attention: animals, people, flowers, windows, doors, even the sky was very interesting to photograph, specially the clouds.
I always have the camera on me, especially when I visit new places. I like to take a photograph of the places that I like and particularly take a photograph of happy and funny moments. I enjoyed portray the moments that I felt happy, because in that way I keep them with me forever.
Unfortunately, my camera is very old, about 8 years, and has too much use. Apart from that, in the earthquake I left in on the table, and with the movement the camera came down to the floor. Because of that, one part is broken, but the camera still works.
So… If you want give me a present, you know what will make me happy.

Saló, Pier Paolo Pasilini.

Hello guys!
Today I’ll talk about cinema; I’ve always like watch movies alone or with my friends.  A few years ago I stared to be interested about French and Italian cinema, directors like Jean Luc Godard, François Truffaut, Eric Rohmer, Robert Bresson and Pier Paolo Passolini.
Pier Paolo Pasolini was born in Italy at 1922, he was a writer, poet and film director. He was communist and his movies always have that politic influence.
My favorite Pasolini’s movie is Saló, also called 120 days of Sodom, is based in the Marques of Sade’s novel, Marques of Sade wrote it in 1785 while he was in jail. The argument of his book is about four rich and psycho men who decide to live in a castle four 120 days with their victims and their accomplice. There are also 4 prostitutes who start to narrate sadistic stories that lived a few years ago, after that, the 4 men decide to make exactly the same to their victims. Pasolini’s screen version transforms this man in politics of Republic of Salò, the fascist state in the north of Italy after the defeat of Mussolini in Second war world.
I saw this film a few years ago, I don’t remember when, exactly. But I remember it because I like the way that Pasolini relate the film and especially the harshness of the pictures that made a big impression on me. Without that, I don't recognize any actor, they are unknown to me. After he made this movie, the government started pursuing him around Italy to kill him because the controversy that his movie caused.

Valparaiso.

Hi
I love travelling, especially with my friends. And today I want to talk about Valparaíso, my favorite place in Chile. In summer of 2010 I was very excited about the visit of my best friend Paula, she's from Recife, at northeast of Brazil. I didn’t see her since 2007, so I was very happy when she arrives in Santiago.
In the early days we visited our favorites places in Santiago, but in a few days we’re very boring to seen always the same, so we decided to travel to everywhere. She wants to go to the north of Chile, but I didn’t want to think about how expensive there is. So, after much thought we decide to go to Valparaíso.
We didn’t have a place to stay, but funnily my cousin called me one day before travel and said that she knows a guy how lives there in a big house and receive people there, even if he don’t meet them.
So we decide to go to try one’s luck. When we arrive there we had to go up a lot of stairs, that was terrible but when we got there the scenery was amazing. That week we went to walk to the hills and meet a lot of beautiful places. In the house where we stayed we had made many friends, especially Diego who was very friendly with us since the day we got there.
The most amazing thing about Valparaiso is that never finish to know all the places, there are too many interesting places! I love that. I stay there for a month...

Pascale
